Absalom was known for his good looks and long hair and his life reads like a soap opera.

He may look good on the outside, but God looks at the heart, and Absalom’s life is filled with murder and revenge. When he died a violent death, his father, King David, grieved him bitterly.

And the king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And as he went, he said, “O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! Would I had died instead of you, O Absalom, my son, my son!” – 2 Samuel 18:33

We should hear the cry of David’s longing for his son to be reconciled with God, just as we hear the Lord’s cry for those who reject him.
