The Gambler
And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” – Matthew 4:3-4
We see in Jesus’ tempting in the wilderness how the devil twists scripture. If we broaden the scope of the three temptations Satan offered Christ, we see that Jesus faced every temptation that is common to man. He felt every temptation you have faced, and he did not stumble. Jesus has provided us a way out of temptation – and it is Himself!
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
